protect our future

A Sound Planet Youth Ambassador is someone who wants to use their music to make a difference. By attending one of our ambassador workshops, participating students explore how professional artists and scholars around the world are fighting climate change and the biodiversity crisis through performance and advocacy. Sound Planet Youth Ambassadors will be provided with resources and a peer network to build creative sustainability projects in their own communities. See the festival schedule for upcoming Youth Ambassador events.

2022-2023 ensemble project

For middle and high school band and orchestra directors: Please join other ensembles from throughout the New Jersey area as we perform Cait Nishimura’s Beneath the Canopy and Frank Duarte’s Song for Mother Gaia this Spring 2023 (separately, at our own schools). Rowan University Director of Bands, Dr. Joseph Higgins, will provide a free session scheduled during each band’s regular rehearsal to discuss the role of musicians in creating a sustainable future – how to be an effective artist citizen. Interested directors should contact Dr. Higgins (higgins@rowan.edu) for access to performance materials.
